Mission Statement
The mission of the Festival Committee is to host the best (fun & well-run) small, one-day dragon-boat event in Eastern Ontario. We are a non-profit organization that returns all profits back to the community. Please see the Festival Donations page for details.
How We Started & Thank You
In 2001, Dale Scott approached a group of former dragon boat paddlers & local citizens with the idea of hosting a local dragon boat festival. The goal was to promote the Town of Carleton Place, dragon boat racing and return the profits to local community organizations. The group agreed and the Carleton Place Dragon Boat Festival Committee was formed with the first festival held in September 2002.
Almost ten years later over $70,000 has been donated to the local community organizations.
The Festival Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the volunteers (especially the Civitan Club) and sponsors who have donated thousands of hours of effort in making the Festival the success that it is.
